Will Waring (the Army insisted on registering him as William although he was baptised Will). born 16 Sept 1886 in Sheffield. Attested in Sheffield on 8 Dec 1915. Served in France from 10 Oct 1916 to 04 March 1918. My Grandmother said he fought in the Battle of the Somme. Will suffered badly with gas on the lungs from the trenches. and also had the bad luck of appendicitis in Feb 1918. probably why he was sent home in March 1918 to recuperate aged 32. Discharged 16 April 1919. Received British War Medal and Victory Medal. Died Sheffield 16/11/44
