Arnold Birch b 1891 GrenosIde lived Bower Lane Grenoside? Able Seaman KW 876 1st? Royal Naval Division interned in Holland in Oct 1914 after the Antwerp Debacle. He became Manager & later player for local Dutch side Be Quick . Article in the Sheffield Daily Telegraph 22/11/ 1918 refers to the repatriation of around 50 POW?s from Sheffield from the Royal Naval Division Arnold Birch is mentioned as ? Former Sheffield Wednesday Goalkeeper ?? so must have been on the books prior to hostilities breaking out |
