Ezra Crossland was my Great Uncle and beloved younger brother of my late Grandma Annie Spooner. He was born on 30th September 1897 at No.5 Court Ellison Street, Sheffield. He was 19 years and 7 days old when he was killed. Ezra's family were grieved that their son's body was never recovered from the battlefield. My Grandma Annie mourned his loss all her life and named her only son Ezra after him. (She also had 4 daughters)
