Henry was Carol’s grandfather. Born at Sheffield, where he lived, in December 1879. He was married with 3 children. He was 156450 Pioneer with the 258th Tunneling Company of the Royal Engineers. Henry though had first served with the Gordon Highlanders when he enlisted in 1914, he then asked for a transfer to the R.E. in 1915. Henry died in hospital at Rouen on 10/4/17 and is buried at St. Severs Cemetery, Rouen, France.

We have an update from Carol, Henry has now been added to the Scottish Nation War Memorial

"It has taken 2 years for his name to be put in the Roll of Honour in the War Memorial, It was completed in August this year.I am going up to see the memorial this month and will meet with the Colonel who has helped me to finally get Henry his place in history."
