Charles William Richardson

Charles was Dennis’s grandfather. Born 1880. He enlisted under the Derby Scheme in December 1915 aged 35. He was called up on July 1st 1916 and joined the 3rd West Riding Brigade of the RFA at Sheffield, as a Driver (of Horses). Charles was shot in the left thigh on 26th August 1918 and was returned to England on 30th August 1918. He was administered by the depot of the Royal Fusiliers until November 1918, being transferred to the Labour Corps and then discharged in December 1918. He lived at 34 Minto Road, Hillsborough.
Charles died at Fir Vale Infirmary, Sheffield on 18th November 1964.
