Morgan Ollerenshaw

Morgan was H.J. Hartley’s grandfather.
He was born at Sheffield in 1877.
Morgan served as Acting Corporal 1417 / 476220 with the Royal Engineers.

Enlisted 02/11/1914. 1st West Riding Field Company.
Disembarked 25/04/1915 V Beach Gallipoli.
Disembarked 07/08/1915 Suvla Bay.
Evacuated from Gallipoli To Egypt 08/01/1916.
February 1916 To Field Hospital with malaria.
20/03/1916 disembarked in France and on 05/05/1916 rank of L/Cpl made substantive.
20/07/1916 received shrapnel wounds. Passed through field hospital and No 10 General Hospital Rouen. Then on 24/07/1916 admitted to Netley Hospital (Southampton) remaiing there until 29/09/1916.
Returned to France 08/05/1917and joined the455th Field Company RE.
Again wounded 31/07/1917. Evacuated to the 57th General Hospital then on 02/08/1917 to Shorncliffe Milatry Hospital (Folkestone)where he stayed until 13/10/1917.
On 13/10/1917 he joined the 464th Reserve Company RE and on 18/12/1917 transferred to the Royal Anglesey Reserve Battalion RE.
Promoted to A/Cpl on 21/01/1919.
Demobilised 30/08/1919 from Ripon.

Morgan survived the war but died shortly afterwards on 21/11/1922 at Sheffield’s Lodge Moor Hospital.
