William George Lockett

William was Tony’s grandfather.

Enlisted in Attercliffe; 5th September 1914; Coal Miner with 4 children.
Embarked for France 11/11/1914 from Training camp, Whitley Bay
Member of the 'Old Comptemtibles Association'

Gun shot wound to right shoulder June 1915 near Ypres
Served in munitions factory until discharge in 1919
William was Corpoal # 13374 1st Bn. West Yorkshire Regiment, entitled to the 1914 Star, Victory and British War medals.
Born at Sheffield 16/2/1886, he survived the war and died on 17/11/1963.
