Dennis's Grandfather - Lawrence Cerrone (served as Lawrence Thompson) his mothers maiden name was Thomason, Thompson a probable typo by the RND.
Able Seaman KW420 'B' Company Hawke Battalion, Royal Naval Division.
Joined in 1914. Fought at Gallipoli and on the Somme. One of 14 survivors, others killed or wounded, out of 431 in his Battalion who attacked at the Battle of the Ancre. Wounded several times and sent home after being gassed in 1918 near Bapaume, at or near the start of the St Michael Offensive. Being sent home probably saved his life.
Born at 36 Copper street, Sheffield, on 31/3/1896, died at 70 Spa Lane, Sheffield on 19/3/1976.



Lawrence with his second wife Madge, his first wife Adelaide had died in 1934
