Walter Asher

Walter was born 22nd Aug 1891 in Sheffield. In 1901 he was in the Headquarters' Home at Fir Vale Workhouse. Walter left Liverpool via Dr Barnardo's on the ship Dominion on the 22nd of September 1903 arriving in Quebec on the 2nd of October 1903 having been sent to Canada the Guardians.

Sadly he was killed in action 28th Sept 1915 and buried in Bailleul Communal Cemetery Extension Bailliel Deot Du Nord, Nord – Pas- de- Calais, France Plt 11. A. 14. Memorial ID 56327614

A labourer by trade, he enlisted in the CEF on 12 March 1915 in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada.

Force: Army Unit: Canadian Infantry (British Columbia Regiment) Division: 7th Battalion.

Son of Thomas and Elizabeth Asher of Sheffield, England; brother of Thomas Asher of Alberni Street in Vancouver, British Columbia.
