The school is now called West Ways Primary School.
A report in the Sheffield Telegraph of April 4th 1920 states – ‘trees planted in memory of 64 former pupils who did not return from the Great War.’
In the wall surrounding the school is a stone which says –

THE TREES ON WESTERN ROAD AND
GILLOTT STREET WERE
PLANTED IN GRATEFUL
APPRECIATION OF THE PART
TAKEN BY
FORMER PUPILS OF THE SCHOOL
IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 – 1919
